Removal

Drain the oil from the gearbox.

Remove the gear shift lever for reverse gear after loosening the bolt on the double plane of the shift shaft.

Loosen the bolts securing the switch cover.

Carefully knock the shift device cover outward from the guide pins and at the same time hammer the reverse gear shift shaft inward with a second hammer until the distance between the shift device cover and the dividing plane of the gearbox housing becomes such that you can grab it with your hand.

Move the shift forks in the direction of the arrows away from the shift levers.

Bend the lid down, then lift it up and remove it.

Installation

Using grease, glue a new paper gasket to the carefully cleaned surface of the gearbox housing.

Place the reverse gear engagement rod rod exactly in the middle position. The shift device cover can only be installed correctly when the shift shaft and with it the shift pin (3) for the reverse gear have been pulled out sufficiently far into the inside of the shift device cover (see distance "b").

Place the shifter cover so that the reverse shift pin fits into the groove on the linkage.

Press the cover out so that the shift forks simultaneously enter the shift levers.

Place the shifter cover onto the gearbox housing section surface with light hammer blows until it stops. Make sure that the cover fits correctly onto both guide pins. The shifter cover should equally fit the gearbox housing section plane, and the shift shaft for the reverse gear should protrude from the cover again. Fasten the shifter cover with bolts evenly crosswise.

Insert the reverse gear engagement lever onto the double plane of the shift shaft and tighten with a bolt.

Check the operation of the shift device cover by engaging all gears.

Pour oil into the gearbox until it spills out of the filler hole on the gearbox.
