Checking the oil level in a manual transmission (Mercedes-Benz S-Class W126)

The oil filled into the gearbox by the manufacturer should not be replaced. It is necessary to check the oil level every 20,000 km.

To check the oil level, the oil temperature in the gearbox must be around +40°C. Drive the car onto a ramp or into an inspection pit, make sure that the car is horizontal.

While working under the vehicle, remove the filler plug (arrow up), the oil should flow out slightly.



Add oil if necessary. The lower arrow shows the oil drain plug.
