The camshafts of 8-cylinder engines are each located on □ bearings, which are standard and of two repair sizes, so that the journals of the camshaft can be reground twice. In 6-cylinder engines, the camshafts are located in the camshaft housing. The left camshaft rests on 5, and the right on 6 bearings (supports).
There are camshaft housings of normal and two repair sizes, so the camshaft journals can also be reground twice. The camshaft housings should only be processed systematically when mechanical damage is visible on the rubbing surfaces. A warped camshaft housing is adjusted again when tightening on the cylinder head.
