Check the axial clearance of the camshafts.
Check the camshaft bearings and journals to determine if the weight is within the required limits.
Using prisms and a dial indicator, check that the camshaft runout is within the required limits. Worn or damaged cams can cause malfunctions in the valve control mechanism. In this case, it is necessary to check the valve timing of the camshafts. In the normal case and during installation work, it is necessary to check the marking in the TDC position of the engine.
In special cases, for example, power loss, it is necessary to check the valve timing and adjust the start of opening of the intake valve of the first and sixth cylinders for 8-cylinder engines and the start of opening of the exhaust valve and the end of closing of the intake valve of the first cylinder on 6-cylinder engines.
The valve timing is measured with a valve stroke of 2 mm. This will compensate for the valve clearance.
