Turn the steering wheel from side to side through the open window, while simultaneously monitoring the movement of the wheels. Maximum free play of the steering wheel (without turning the wheels) should not exceed 25 mm.
If there is excessive play, it is necessary to check the clearances of the steering rods, pendulum arm, steering gear and front axle bearings.

Move the connecting rods (10) and the steering rod (11) from side to side by hand. The ball joints should not have any play. If there is play, the joints or steering rod must be replaced.
Check that the connecting rods are not bent.
