Power steering hydraulic pump drive belt (Mercedes-Benz S-Class W126)

Remove the fan belts from the crankshaft pulley, located in front of the hydraulic pump drive belt.

Loosen the clamp bolts (1, 2 and 3).

Turn the tensioner (4) so that the belt tension is released, after which it can be removed.

For engine 110, loosen screw (1) on the front surface of the hydraulic pump.

Loosen the nut (2). Turn the adjusting screw (3) to the left, which will loosen the belt tension, which can then be removed.

Install a new belt and tighten it using the adjusting wheel. The deflection of the tensioned belt at the midpoint between the pulleys should be about 5 mm.

Tighten the clamp bolts or locknuts.



Install the removed belts on the crankshaft pulley and check their tension.

Note: The workshop will be able to precisely adjust the tension of the drive belt using a special tool. The control readings of this tool are equal to 50 for a new belt and 40-45 for a used belt.
