In the steering gear housing

Remove the screw located in the middle of the steering gear housing (40). The oil should reach the lower edge of the screw hole. If necessary, add transmission oil (ATF) in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.

In the power steering system

The power steering fluid level should be checked every 20,000 km.

The oil level can be checked on a cold engine (room temperature) or at the operating temperature of the oil (about 80°C).

Loosen the screw and remove the hydraulic pump housing cover.

Note: Some models may have a wing nut instead of a screw.

When the oil is warm (around 80°C), its level should reach the corresponding mark on the tank or be 20 mm below the edge of the tank.

When the oil is cold, its level should be 6-8 mm below the mark on the tank.

Add oil if necessary (transmission oil for automatic transmissions - ATF). Always use fresh oil when topping up, as the smallest dirt particles can cause clogging of the hydraulic system.

The total capacity of the power steering system is approximately 1.4 liters.

Inspect the pump cover gasket for leaks or damage.

Replace the pump cover and secure it with the screw or wing nut.

With the engine running, turn the steering wheel from side to side several times from lock to lock to expel air from the system.
