Power Steering Fluid Replacement (Mercedes-Benz S-Class W126)

Use a syringe to suck out the oil from the power steering pump reservoir.

Remove the top damper plate and check the filter for cleanliness and damage.

Pour new fluid into the reservoir.

Add oil while the engine is running.

Turn the steering wheel right and left several times until it stops to release air from the system.

Set the oil level correctly. When the oil is cold, the oil level should be 6-8 mm below the mark.

Using a screwdriver, remove the wire spring ring (3).

Remove the casing (2) with the plastic ring (10) from the top.

Installation



Fill the ball joint with multi-purpose grease (for example, SHELL Retinax A).

Place the rubber cover (2) on the conical lock.

Install the mounting cap (20) and use it to insert the plastic ring (10) into the rubber casing.

Remove the mounting cap.

Install the mounting cap (21) onto the rubber boot and insert the wire retaining ring (3) into the latter.

Install the tie rod into place.
