Rear Wheel Drive Shafts — General Description (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)

The rear drive shafts, enclosed in a common housing, are included in the rear drive axle. They serve to transmit torque to the wheels. When the car is moving, the shafts work together with the suspension elements and equalize the changing distance to the wheels.
