The gearbox is followed by a cardan shaft. It transmits torque to the rear wheel drive mechanism (differential). The cardan shaft runs centrally in a special tunnel in the bottom of the vehicle and consists of two tubular shafts. Front shaft 4 (pic. 6.15) connected to the gearbox by means of an elastic coupling 2. The rear shaft 9 is connected to the drive gear of the final drive by a cardan joint 10 (constant velocity joint). The shafts are connected to each other by a fixing nut 5, and a support bearing 7 is installed at the place of their connection. To avoid constant noise during the operation of the shaft, the shaft is balanced.
