Checking the condition of the rear wheel drive shaft mudguards (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)

From time to time, you should check the condition of the mudguards on the CV joints of the drive shafts, because dirt and moisture quickly destroy the joint.

Sequence of works

1. To check, jack up the rear wheels one by one and, turning the wheel, check the condition of the mudguards while under the vehicle.

2. Mudguards must not have any cracks or tears over their entire surface.

3. The clamps must be tightly installed in their places.

4. Dark oily spots indicate a problem.

5. A damaged mudguard must be replaced as soon as possible. This requires removing the drive shaft.
