The cooling system is pressurized when the engine is running. Therefore, the boiling point rises from +100 to +126°C.
High temperatures contribute to more economical operation of the engine. The excess pressure in the cooling system is approximately 1.4–1.5 bar. If the pressure in the cooling system rises when the engine is hot, the pressure reducing valve on the cap of the expansion tank opens and the pressure is released to the atmosphere.
