Speedometer Drive Cable — Removal and Installation (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W124)

Removal

1. Remove the instrument cluster.

2. Inside the vehicle, tie a thin, strong cord to the top end of the speedometer drive cable, then carefully remove the cable from the engine compartment and untie the cord from it.

Installation

1. Tie a cord to the upper end of the speedometer drive cable and use the cord to pull the speedometer drive cable from the engine compartment into the passenger compartment.

2. Install the instrument cluster, being careful not to twist or loop the speedometer cable.
