Removal the instrument cluster from the dashboard

Removal the instrument cluster from the dashboard

1. Remove the ground cable from the battery.

2. Apply the parking brake, then raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on stands.

3. Working underneath the vehicle, move the speedometer cable to the left of the gearbox. Loosen the retaining ring bolt and remove the speedometer cable from the gearbox. In this case, the speedometer cable can be removed into the vehicle interior when the instrument cluster is removed.

4. Using a piece of strong steel wire with a hook on the end, insert the wire into the gap between the instrument cluster and the instrument panel and, hooking the wire, pull the instrument cluster out of the instrument panel enough to expose the speedometer drive cable (see fig. Removing the instrument cluster from the instrument panel).

5. Unscrew the knurled ring and remove the speedometer drive cable from the instrument cluster, then disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the instrument cluster.

Installation

1. Connect the instrument cluster electrical connectors, then connect the speedometer drive cable and secure it securely with the retaining ring.

2. Carefully install the instrument cluster into place, making sure the speedometer drive cable passes through the bulkhead into the engine compartment without twisting or forming loops.

3. Secure the speedometer drive cable to the gearbox and lower the vehicle.

4. Connect the battery and check the operation of the indicator lights on the instrument cluster.
