General information about electrical equipment (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W124)

Consumers are connected to the positive power source by a wire, and to the negative one - through the car body (ground). This method allows to reduce the number of wires and simplify installation.

The electrical system has a twelve-volt supply with negative ground and consists of a battery, generator, starter, electrical consumers and electrical circuits.

Fuses are used to protect electrical circuits, the color of which corresponds to the fuse protection current. The serviceability of a fuse is determined by the presence of a wire conductor connecting the fuse contacts.

When working on electrical equipment, remove the ground cable from the battery to prevent the possibility of short-circuiting electrical circuits.
