Removal
1. Remove the engine cover or air filter vertically upwards from the cylinder head covers.
2. It is not allowed to disassemble the air intake system.
3. Secure the V-belt tensioner with a punch or 5mm diameter pin.
4. Turn the crankshaft in the direction of rotation and stop the piston of the first cylinder at 40° after TDC. The grooves on the camshafts should point inward.
5. To remove the chain tensioner, tilt the generator. To do this, unscrew the upper bolt and loosen the lower one.
6. Secure the chain with the cable connector to the right camshaft sprocket. Mark the left camshaft sprocket in relation to the chain. Jumping of the chain on the crankshaft and balance shaft is impossible.
7. Note the different lengths of the camshaft bearing cap bolts. Mark the bolt positions.

8. Unscrew the 4 mounting bolts (a/b) of the timing mechanism housing cover.
9. Remove the cylinder head mounting bolts in the numbering sequence, i.e. from 1 to 8. A Torx head is required for this. Z1 to Z6 are the designations of cylinders 1 to 6. The arrow indicates the direction of vehicle movement.
Installation

1. Tighten the cylinder head bolts in sequence 1 through 8 in four steps to the torques specified in the Specifications.
Caution! If the tightening torque of a bolt is accidentally exceeded, remove the bolt. Check the length of the bolt and replace it with a new one if necessary. The length of the bolt cannot be more than 144.5 mm. Retighten the bolt starting with step 1.
2. Fasten the cylinder head with four bolts (a/b) to the timing case cover. The arrow points in the direction of travel.

3. The sequence of tightening the bolts securing the bearing housings of the camshafts is presented in the Specifications.
