1. Carry out a short test drive to ensure that the oil in the differential reaches operating temperature.
2. Raise the car in a horizontal plane.
3. Unscrew the oil filler screw (right arrow) with a 14mm wrench for hexagon socket bolts, e.g. HAZET 2760. Drain plug (left arrow).
4. If a small amount of oil comes out, this corresponds to the normal level. Otherwise, check with your finger to see if the oil level reaches the lower edge of the hole. If not, add oil using a manual oiler.
Attention! In the case of a relatively large oil leakage, determine its causes and eliminate the malfunction.
Attention! Oil specification: SAE 90 hypoid gear oil. Use only oil approved by Mercedes (indicated on a manual oiler).
Attention! For vehicles with automatic locking differential (the pointer is located on the rear axle cover) Use only SAE 90 special gear oil for locking differentials.
Attention! Gear oil is viscous, so do not add too much at once. Accordingly, wait a pause and substitute a vessel to trap the overflowing oil.
5. Screw in the oil filler screw with a torque of 50 Nm.
