1. Raise the car.
2. Shine a lamp on the rubber of the cuffs and check for porosity and cracks. Replace cracked cuffs immediately.
3. If the cuff is pulled inward or damaged due to vacuum in the joint, it should be replaced immediately.
4. Note the visible traces of oil on and around the seals.
5. Check that the clamping clamps are firmly seated.
