Removal and installation turbocharger (Mercedes-Benz Vito W638)

Removal



1. Remove the air filter air intake pipe.

2. Disconnect the clamp securing the compressed air supply pipe 4 from the intercooler and disconnect it (see figure 5.46).

4, 5. Compressed air supply pipes,
6. Turbocharging,
7, 26, 27. Clamp,
8. Chamber with increased pressure of exhaust gases,
9, 24. Nut,
10. Oil injection line,
11. Exhaust manifold,
12. Banjo bolt,
14, 15. Seals,
16. Oil drain line,
17. Gasket,
18. Vacuum tube,
19. Vacuum unit,
22, 23. Brackets.


3. Loosen clamps 7 securing tube 5.

4. Unscrew bolts 3 securing tube 4 to the subframe and lower and remove tube 5.

5. Disconnect pipe 5 from turbocharger 6.

6. Disconnect the exhaust high pressure chamber 8.

7. Unscrew nut 9 securing the injection oil line 10 to the exhaust manifold 11.

8. Unscrew banjo bolt 12 securing pressure oil line 10 to turbocharger 6. Replace oil seal 15.

9. Unscrew bolt 13 securing the injection oil line 10 to the cylinder head and disconnect it. Replace oil seal 14.



10. Unscrew the bolts securing the oil drain line 16 to the cylinder block. Replace gasket 17.

11. Disconnect vacuum tube 18 from vacuum unit 19.

12. Unscrew nut 24 and bolts 20 and 21 securing brackets 22 and 23 to turbocharger 6 and the cylinder block and remove them.

13. Unscrew bolts 25 securing turbocharger 6 to exhaust manifold 11.

14. Loosen the clamp securing the air intake pipe 2 to the turbocharger 6.

15. Remove turbocharger 6.

16. Disconnect the oil drain line 16 from the turbocharger 6 (only if the turbo is replaced). Replace the gasket.

Installation



17. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Replace gasket 17.
