70 - Cylinder head; 80, 81, 82 - Camshaft bearing caps; 84, 132, 190 - Bolts; 84a, 189, 237 - Washers; 125 - Cylinder head cover; 188 - Camshaft sprocket; 224 - Timing chain tensioner; 400 - Oil pump (on models with self-adjusting suspension)

Removal



1. On turbocharged engines, remove the compressed air supply pipe

2. Remove the cylinder head cover.

3. Set the piston of the first cylinder to the TDC position.

Caution! Do not rotate the engine crankshaft by the camshaft sprocket bolt or in the direction opposite to the direction of rotation.

4. Remove the timing chain tensioner.



5. On models with self-leveling suspension, remove the oil pump.

6. Align the marks on the camshaft sprocket and the timing chain.

7. Loosen the camshaft sprocket mounting bolt, holding the camshaft with a metal rod.

3. Install the camshaft bearing caps and tighten their mounting bolts. First tighten caps (2), (3), (4) and (7) one at a time, one turn each. Then tighten the mounting bolts of camshaft bearing caps (1), (3) and (6).
