Remove the positive and ground wires from the battery, with the ground wire removed first (weight).
Before charging the battery, check the electrolyte level, if necessary, restore it to normal by adding distilled water to the battery.
Defrost a frozen battery before charging it. A charged battery freezes at a temperature of about -65°C, a half-charged battery at a temperature of about -35°C and a discharged battery at a temperature of -12°C.
Unscrew the battery cell covers and leave them lying on the holes. The caps will prevent the electrolyte from splashing out and at the same time pass the gases formed during the battery charging process.
Charge the battery only in a well-ventilated area. If the battery installed in the vehicle is being charged, open the hood.
The charge current of a normally charged battery is approximately 10% of its nominal capacity (in the case of a battery with a capacity of 45 Ah, the current should be approximately 4.5 A).
Connect the positive battery terminal to the positive terminal and the negative terminal of the battery to the negative terminal of the charger.
During battery charging, the temperature of the electrolyte should not exceed 55°C; if necessary, interrupt the charging process or reduce the charging current.
Charge the battery until gas begins to escape from all cells, and the density of the electrolyte and battery voltage increase when making three measurements with an interval of one hour between them.
The battery can be charged in quick charge mode.
Note: In an emergency, use only the quick charger. The specified quick charge mode cannot be applied to new batteries and batteries that have not been used for a long time.
Check the electrolyte level at the end of the battery charge. If necessary, restore it to the desired level by adding distilled water.
Check electrolyte density. If in one of the cells the density of the electrolyte is noticeably lower than in other cells (for example, in five elements the density is 1.26, and in one element 1.18), replace the battery. Allow the battery to rest for approximately 20 minutes, then screw on all cell covers.
Note: The engine must not be operated with the battery disconnected, as this could damage the electrical system.
