If the test is carried out to determine only the presence of voltage in the electric circuit, it is sufficient to have a regular test lamp (A). This method is applicable only to circuits that do not have electronic elements, since electronic control devices are extremely sensitive to high currents. When connecting a test lamp to them, electronic devices may fail. For cars, a special high-resistance voltmeter (B) is required. It performs almost the same functions as a test lamp, but does not damage electronic devices.
