Attention! The oil level is not allowed above the mark «Maximal», as unburnt oil may enter the exhaust system and damage the catalytic converter. Excess oil should be drained.
High oil consumption
Pay attention to the following circumstances:
- 1. Before checking the oil consumption, you need to visually check if there are any oil leaks from the engine.
- 2. If the oil level is above the maximum mark on the dipstick, then the oil consumption will always be greater, since its excess leaves through the crankcase ventilation system.
- 3. All-weather oil, which has been used in the engine for a long time, requires constant topping up.
- 4. «Harsh driving style» increases the consumption of not only fuel, but also oil, especially when driving at high speeds.
- 5. Oil consumption is always higher when breaking in a new car (minimum mileage - 5000 km).
- 6. Oil consumption increases when the engine malfunctions, if, for example, valve seats are worn out, valve stem seals are hardened, rings or cylinder walls are incorrectly fitted or damaged.
