Sequence of work
"Before every trip"
1. Before starting the engine, check the oil level on a cold engine. The vehicle must be level. If you want to check the oil after a ride, wait 5 minutes for all the oil to drain into the crankcase.
2. Remove the dipstick. Be careful when measuring with a warm engine: parts close to the engine are very hot. Wipe the oil dipstick with a clean cloth. Insert the dipstick all the way into the socket, wait a bit and, removing it, check the level again.
Pic. 5.21. The difference between the marks on the dipstick corresponds to a volume of 2 liters
3. If the oil level is between the marks on the dipstick (pic. 5.21), then everything is fine. Oil should be added only if its level approaches the mark «minimum». Zone between markings «minimum» And «maximum» corresponds to a volume of 2 liters. Use a clean funnel to add oil.
Add oil until the level is below the mark «maximum» (top mark). Excess oil in the engine under certain conditions can be sucked through the crankcase ventilation into the air filter, severely clogging it.
