Oil circulation (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)
Oil is supplied to the lubrication points under pressure, which is provided by the oil pump. The pump is driven by the engine crankshaft control chain. The power of the gear pump depends on the engine characteristics and is achieved by gears of different widths. The oil pump is equipped with a pressure reducing valve that limits the pressure to 5 bar. The suction pipe of the oil pump is immersed in an oil bath (oil pan). From the pump, the oil goes to the oil filter. At maximum crankshaft speeds, more than 30 liters of oil per minute pass through the oil pump.
