Power supply system — general description (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)

0
The fuel system includes a fuel tank with an absorber, a fuel pump and fuel lines, a fuel filter and an injection system with an air filter. The fuel tank contains a fuel level sensor. The fuel tank is ventilated through a closed ventilation system. Fuel vapors formed in the fuel tank are captured in the absorber, then fed to the engine intake manifold and then to the cylinders. The fuel pump with a fuel filter is located on the bottom of the body on the right in front of the rear axle.

Note: The T-model has a separate fuel pump located behind the rear axle main gear, and the fuel filter is located on the left in front of the rear axle.

Caution: When removing the fuel pump, do not install the clamp on the bend of the fuel hose.

Fuel tank. The fuel tank is made of steel and is located behind the rear seat. In the T-model, it is located under the luggage compartment. The tank capacity depends on the car model. Thus, in a sedan, it is 65 liters, in the T-model - 70 liters. The fuel level sensor is located on top of the tank.

Fuel pump. An electrically driven fuel pump delivers fuel through the fuel line from the fuel tank to the engine.

Fuel filter. The fuel filter for gasoline engines is installed before direct fuel injection into the combustion chamber. It cleans the fuel from liquid and solid inclusions.

Absorber. An absorber with an activated carbon filter captures fuel vapors coming out of the fuel tank. When the engine is running, fuel vapors are forced from the carbon filter into the intake manifold, where they are mixed with fresh fuel mixture.

Fuel lines. The fuel lines that supply fuel from the fuel tank to the engine are made of durable material and are equipped with clamps or screw-on clamps. The fuel supply and outlet pipes run under the bottom of the vehicle.
