Disconnect the hood release cable from the back of the hood latch

1. Open the hood.

2. Remove the screw and the hood release handle from the instrument panel. Disconnect the handle from the hood release cable and tie a thin, strong cord to the cable.

3. While working in the engine compartment, mark the location of the cable and remove it from the mounting brackets.

4. Release the mounting brackets and remove the protective cover from under the hood lock (see Fig. Removing the protective cover of the hood lock).

5. Remove the hood release cable housing from the mounting bracket, then disconnect the cable from the hood latch (see fig. Disconnect the hood release cable from the back of the hood lock).

6. Remove the rubber sealing ring from the engine compartment bulkhead and pull the hood release cable into the engine compartment. When the cord appears from the engine compartment bulkhead, untie it from the cable and leave it in the bulkhead.

Installation

1. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. To install the cable, tie a cord to the cable and pull the hood release cable into the car using the cord. Before closing the hood, pull the hood release handle and ask an assistant to check how easily and freely the lock latch moves.
