When buying a car, the owner is presented with two main remote controls (DU), equipped with folding keys. The key included in the remote control is suitable for all locks used on the car.
Main remote control single lock with folding key (2 pcs)
1 - Folding key release button; 2 - Button for locking locks; 3 - Button for unlocking locks; 4 - Button for unlocking the tailgate
Remote control (DU) allows activation of locks / alarms from a distance of up to 10 meters (depending on local conditions).
If the remote control is lost, the single lock should be recoded at a Mercedes-Benz service station - a replacement remote control can also be ordered there.
Remote control malfunctions can be caused by the following reasons:
- a) The key is in the ignition;
- b) The battery level of the remote control battery has dropped;
- c) The distance between the remote control and the car is more than 10 meters;
- d) Single lock system out of sync (see below).
Observe the following precautions when handling remote controls:
- a) Keep the remote control away from moisture!
- b) Do not drop or shake the remote control!
- c) Do not expose the remote control to direct sunlight for a long time and do not heat it above 60°C!
It is also possible to control the functioning of the lock actuators using a key switch mounted in the front section of the center console (see Vehicle equipment, arrangement of instruments and controls).
Note. If the locks were locked using the remote control, unlocking them using the console switch is not possible. Locking the locks with the console switch can only be done with all the doors of the car tightly closed.
The stationary switch of a single lock is placed in front of the center console of the car
1 - Remote control buttons
5 - Retractable key
Automatic simultaneous locking of all car doors occurs when the speed of the car reaches a certain value (about 15 km/h), - unlocking any of the front doors of the vehicle from the inside will unlock the others (provided that the last unlock was not limited to the driver's door).
Note. If the doors are unlocked after the locks have been activated while driving using the single lock switch on the center console, the locks will remain open even after the vehicle is started again.
Attention! Automatic locking of the doors occurs when the left front wheel is rotated, when the ignition key is turned to position 2, which should be taken into account so as not to be left outside when pushing a stuck car!
Deactivation of the function of automatic locking of doors while driving can be done by holding down the lower part of the button of the console switch of a single lock for approximately 6 seconds with the ignition key turned to position 2, - reactivation of the function is performed by holding down the upper part of the button for 10 seconds (the ignition key must also be turned to position 2).
The creators of a single lock provide a function of automatic unlocking of door locks in case of an emergency collision with excess of a predetermined level of overloads.
Rules for using the remote control
Note. When the key is left in the ignition lock, it is not possible to control the single lock from the remote control.
Controlling the operation of lock activators
The remote control allows simultaneous unlocking / locking of all doors (including tailgate) and fuel filler caps.
Individual unlocking of the driver's door
To unlock the driver's door, press the button once - at the same time, the top hatch cover will also be unlocked.
Unlocking all locks
Double pressing the button on the remote control will unlock the locks of all car doors (including tailgate), as well as the lock of the fuel tank filler cap. The fact of unlocking the locks and disabling the anti-theft alarm (EDW) confirmed by a single short-term inclusion of direction indicators (failure of the pointers to work indicates a violation of the functioning of a single lock - contact Mercedes-Benz service specialists for help).
If, after unlocking the car, none of the doors is opened within about 40 seconds, the locks will automatically switch to the locked position (with activation of the anti-theft alarm, if provided).
Individual unlocking of the tailgate
Unlocking the tailgate individually can be done by pressing the button on the remote control, while all other car doors remain locked.
Locking all locks
To simultaneously lock all locks, press the button on the remote control once, - the correct operation of the system is confirmed by three blinking of the direction indicators. If the direction indicators fail to work, make sure that all doors are tightly closed, then try again. Repair of a failed single lock must be carried out by Mercedes-Benz service specialists.
Replacing the remote control batteries
Note. Replacement batteries for the remote controls are always available from Mercedes-Benz Dealers.
To change the batteries of the main remote control, open the key built into it, then push up the access cover on the rear panel
Install the replacement batteries with the positive side facing up, then securely snap the cover on and remove the key.
After replacing the batteries, make sure that the remote control works properly by pressing each button in turn. If necessary, repeat the procedure for installing elements and / or synchronize a single lock (see below).
Single Lock Synchronization
If the lock activators fail to operate from the remote control, it is necessary to synchronize the system.
Turn the key in the ignition lock to position 2, then return it to position 0 and remove it from the lock.
Within 60 seconds after removing the key, press the button once, then press the button five times in a row and check that the system is functioning properly. If any of the functions fail, repeat the synchronization procedure.
