To remove the clutch, you need to remove the gearbox from underneath the car.
Removal
Checking the wear of the clutch driven disc: the 0.8mm thick feeler gauge fork should pass between the plunger and the gasket
1. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.
2. Remove the gearbox.
3. Lock the flywheel.
4. Gradually loosen the bolts securing the clutch housing to the flywheel.
5. Remove the clutch cover.
Installation
Mandrel for centering the driven disc of the clutch
1. Clean and check the condition of all parts, in particular the thickness of the driven disk, the condition of the working surface of the flywheel and the pressure plate.
2. Check the condition of the gearbox input shaft bearing in the flywheel seat.
3. Replace faulty parts.
4. Install the clutch, positioning the driven disk with the protruding part of the hub towards the pressure plate and center the disk relative to the flywheel using the Mercedes 116 589 11 15 00 drift, which imitates the splined end of the primary shaft of the gearbox.
5. Tighten the bolts securing the clutch housing to the flywheel.
6. Remove the retainer from the flywheel.
7. Apply a thin coat of clutch grease to the splines of the transmission input shaft.
8. Install the gearbox.
9. Connect the negative terminal to the battery.
