Replacing the needle valve and setting the fuel level in the float chamber (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W123)

0
1. Remove the carburetor cover.

2. Remove the bracket and take out the float and needle valve.

3. Install the float and new needle valve and secure them with the bracket.

4. Install gauge 13 1 070.

5. Raise the float until resistance appears; the needle valve should be recessed. In this position, the heel of the gauge should be aligned with the upper edge of the float cutout.

6. If necessary, bend the float tongue.

7. If there is no gauge, adjust the fuel level in the float chamber as follows:

(Material borrowed from an online resource MercedesMAN.ru)
  • remove the carburetor cover with the gasket and lock the float shaft to prevent it from rising;
  • disconnect the wires from the ignition coil and fill the float chamber with fuel by starting the engine with the starter;
  • measure the distance between the fuel level and the float chamber joint plane, which should be within 7±1 mm with the carburetor cover;
  • if there is a deviation from the norm, adjust by bending the float tongue.
