From model year 1978 on models «230E» And «280E» a non-contact TSZ ignition system was installed with the ignition timing adjusted by vacuum and centrifugal regulators of the ignition distributor sensor. The sensor is driven by an intermediate shaft.
The order of operation of the cylinders:
- M 115, M 102: 1-3-4-2
- M 110, M 123: 1-5-3-6-2-4
Accumulator battery
The battery is located in the front left side of the engine compartment. The negative terminal of the battery is connected to the car body.
