Replacing the windshield wiper arm (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 903)

0
After about 6 months of use, the rubber elements of the wipers wear out, and during a night drive in the rain, they can no longer provide sufficient visibility from a safety point of view. It is necessary to decide whether the entire brush will be replaced or just the rubber element. To do this, you must first remove the brush from the leash, for which you must do the following:
  • turn off the ignition;

  • open the lid 1 (figure 330) leash supports;
  • unscrew nut 2 securing the leash;
  • remove leash 5 from the spindle. If it does not come off, screw the nut back on, but not all the way, and swing the leash to release it. Make sure that the leash does not hit the windshield. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Place the leash on the spindle when the latter is in its original position. After installation, make sure that the wiper moves along the set path.

If the windshield wiper arm cannot return to its original position due to snowfall, the windshield wiper motor remains energized. Its winding may burn out if the leash remains in this position for a certain period of time. In this case, you need to stop as quickly as possible and move the leash away from the glass so that it can return to its original position.

When the rod stops in the middle when the ignition is turned off, this is not a malfunction. When the ignition is turned on, the wiper will return to its original position.
