Belt tension

By turning the tension bolt to the right, move the alternator away from the engine, thereby tightening the fan belt.

in the workshop, the fan belt tension level is checked with a special tool. A new belt is tensioned to level 30, while a previously used belt is tensioned to level 20-25.

If there is no such tool, you should press the belt between the pulleys with your thumbs. The belt should bend by about 5 mm, otherwise you should adjust the tension again. You should check the degree of tension of the fan belt with a measuring device.

Tighten the mounting bolts and nuts.
