Before carrying out any test on the charging system, make sure that the battery is fully charged and that all connections and wires are clean and tight. The belt must be tensioned correctly. When checking the voltages, you need to be sure that the wires between the generator, the battery and the ground wire are in good condition.
- Connect a voltmeter to the terminal "B+" and mass.
- Start the engine and maintain the speed at 3,000 rpm.
- Load the battery by turning on the low beams, fog lights, and windshield wipers.
- Measure the regulated voltage for 30 seconds, which should be between 13.0 and 14.8 V. If this value is not reached, then replace the regulator and repeat the test. The transistor regulator cannot be adjusted.
