Replacing cooling system hoses (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)

0
If you discover a hose rupture during your trip, try to fix it with insulating tape or scotch tape. At the same time, slightly unscrew the expansion tank cap to reduce the pressure in the system and thereby reduce the likelihood of a breakdown or slipping of your lining. However, this measure is forced, so change the hose as soon as possible. Use only hoses that match the engine model of your car.

Sequence of works

1. Drain the coolant.

2. Loosen the clamps and remove the hose.

3. If the clamp has a non-removable bracket, break it and replace it with a clamp (Fig. 4.52).

4. Bend the stuck ends of the hoses using a screwdriver. Insert the screwdriver between the hose and the fitting and carefully disconnect the hose using circular movements.

5. Push the hose onto the fitting until it stops to prevent it from coming off.

6. Do not tighten screw clamps with maximum force, as the threaded scars may become deformed and the clamp will lose its clamping force.

7. Fill with coolant.
