Brake system (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)

Mercedes E-Class models are equipped with a hydraulic dual-circuit braking system. Compared to the previous model, the Mercedes E-Class has larger diameter brake discs on the front and rear axles.

The designers paid special attention to the rear brake discs. In the E 200, E 230 and diesel models, the diameter of the rear brake discs is increased by 20 mm and is 278 mm.

On 4-cylinder and diesel models, the diameter of the front brake discs has been increased by 4 mm.

The pressing force and the working surface area of the front brake shoes were also increased. For the 4-, 5- and 6-cylinder models, Mercedes-Benz developed "floating" saddle brakes, which are used on the front wheels. The rear wheels retained rigid saddle brakes, ensuring reliable braking of both wheels.

All Mercedes E-Class models are equipped with an electronically controlled anti-lock braking system (ABS) as standard.
