Mercedes E-class models are equipped with a hydraulic dual-circuit brake system. Compared to the previous model, larger diameter brake discs are installed on the front and rear axles of the Mercedes E-Class.
The designers paid special attention to the rear brake discs. For models E 200, E 230 and the diesel version, the diameter of the rear brake discs has been increased by 20 mm to 278 mm.
For 4-cylinder and diesel models, the diameter of the front brake discs has increased by 4 mm.
The pressing force and the working surface area of the front brake pads have also been increased. For 4-, 5- and 6-cylinder models, Mercedes-Benz has developed «floating» saddle brakes, which are used on the front wheels. The rear wheels still have rigid saddle brakes, which ensure reliable braking of both wheels.
All Mercedes E-class models come standard with an electronically controlled anti-lock braking system (ABS).
