Removal and installation the starter (Mercedes-Benz C-Class W203)

0
To start an internal combustion engine, an electric motor called a starter is needed. To start the car engine, it must be spun up to a speed of at least 300 rpm. This can be achieved if the starter works reliably and the battery is charged.

Since the engine requires a large amount of electricity to start, care must be taken to ensure that the cables are securely connected during maintenance. Rusty contacts must be cleaned and lubricated with grease.

Removal

1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable with the ignition off. The cabin air filter box must be removed first.

Warning! Before disconnecting the cable, find out the radio receiver security code, if any, refer to Section Replacing the battery. Do not connect an auxiliary power source.

2. Raise and support the front of the vehicle.

Attention! The operation of lifting and installing the car on stands is associated with danger! Therefore, before carrying out the operation, read the Section Jacking and towingIntroduction to the manual.
