Removal

Note: The thermostat is built into the thermostat cover and can only be replaced as a set with it.

Caution! When the engine is hot, cover the expansion tank with a thick cloth before opening it to prevent burns from hot coolant and steam. The cap should only be removed when the coolant temperature is below + 90°C.

1. Drain the coolant into a container as described in Section Coolant Replacement - General Notes.

2. Remove the engine covers at the front (2) and left (1).

2. Remove the engine covers at the front (2) and left (1).

3. Remove the coolant hoses from the radiator and the expansion tank on the thermostat cover. First, loosen the clamps and move them all the way back.

4. Unscrew the thermostat cover and remove it together with the thermostat.

Attention! The thermostat and thermostat cover form a single unit. When removed, the thermostat may be damaged and cannot be reinstalled.

5. Remove the thermostat housing gasket and clean the sealing surfaces.

Installation

1. Install a new sealing ring, thermostat cover with thermostat and tighten to a torque of 10 Nm.

2. Place the coolant hoses on the connecting fittings and secure with clamps.

Note: When doing this, check the condition of the hoses and clamps and replace them if necessary.

3. Install the front and left engine covers.
