Removal and installation the coolant pump (Mercedes-Benz C-Class W203)

4-cylinder petrol engine



The coolant pump is located at the front of the cylinder block and is driven via a V-belt drive.

Removal



1. Drain the coolant, refer to the relevant section.

2. Remove the air filter, refer to Section Removal and installation the air filter.

3. Engine 111.955: Remove the air filter holder.

4. Loosen the coolant pump pulley mounting bolt. While doing this, hold the pulley from turning by clamping the V-belt.

5. Remove the V-belt, refer to Section Removal and installation the V-belt.

6. Disconnect and remove the pump pulley.

7. Remove the hoses from the pump. Loosen the clamps first and slide them back.

8. Remove the pump from the cylinder block.

Mark the position of bolts of different lengths.

9. Clean the mating surfaces.

Installation



1. Install the pump with a new gasket and secure it with bolts.

2. Further installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Secure the pulley with a torque of 10 Nm.

3. Fill the cooling system with liquid and remove air from the system, refer to the relevant section.

Petrol engine 112



Remove the V-belt tensioner with shock absorber.

Diesel engines



Note: Only differences from the gasoline engine are described here.


1. Use a screwdriver to pry off the cover of the central bolt securing the V-belt deflection roller. Disconnect the deflection roller.

Note: The coolant pump mounting bolt is located behind the deflection roller.


2. Remove the fuel hose from the shut-off valve, refer also to Section Replacing the fuel filter.



3. Disconnect the coolant pump.

Attention! The pump is secured with bolts of different lengths, so when removing it, it is necessary to mark the position of the bolts with a marker.


4. Clean the mating surfaces.
