Since repair of a maintenance-free coolant pump is a complex and time-consuming task, the faulty pump must be replaced with a new one. Coolant pumps of 8-cylinder engines cannot be repaired, because after pressing out the pump bearings, a tight fit of the new bearings in the aluminum housing cannot be achieved.
Since the pump is equipped with sealed, self-lubricating bearings, additional lubrication is unnecessary. Check the bearing for wear and roughness. Check the impeller for corrosion and damage. If broken, replace the pump with a new one.
