2. Screw 1 wheel mounting bolt into the threaded hole (2) opposite the locking screw (1) and tighten by hand. This will secure the brake disc to the wheel hub.
3. Carefully pry the disc brake pads away from the brake disc using a screwdriver.
4. Remove the hub cap (3) using a puller or rubber mallet. To do this, turn the wheel and tap the cap with a hammer until it falls.

5. Check the bearing clearance by pulling and pushing firmly on the flange. Rotate the hub several times before each measurement.
6. In the auto repair shop, the axial clearance in the bearing is measured using an indicator (1) and a holder (2). Set the indicator to 2 mm of preload. The required axial clearance value is 0.01-0.02 mm.
During the measurement process, it is not allowed to rotate the wheel hub.
Adjustment

1. Loosen the screw (1) of the split nut (2).
2. Tighten the split nut while rotating the hub so that the hub cannot rotate. Then back off the clamping nut by one third of a turn and, by hitting the steering knuckle axis (3) with a plastic hammer, relieve the tension.
3. Repeat the measurement with the indicator and, if necessary, readjust the gap.
4. Mercedes-Benz checks the bearing clearances using an indicator. In practice, the bearing clearance is adjusted correctly if the disc behind the split nut moves tightly, i.e. requires a certain amount of force to do so. Otherwise, the split nut should be tightened or loosened.
5. Tighten the split nut screw to 8 Nm and check the bearing clearance again.
6. Fill the hub cap with high-temperature bearing grease. The oil volume is 15 g.
7. Tap the hub cap into place using a rubber mallet. Use a suitable pipe to ensure the cap sits level. Warning: If the cap is warped, replace it as a leaky seal may allow moisture to enter the bearing, which will shorten the life of the bearing.
8. Remove the hub bolt near the brake disc.
9. Install the front wheel in place so that the previously applied marks match. Screw in the wheel mounting bolts. Lower the car onto the wheels and tighten the bolts crosswise to a torque of 110 Nm.
10. Press the brake pedal several times to seat the brake pads.
