Removal
1. Mark the position of the front wheel relative to the hub with paint. This will allow you to install the balanced wheel in its original position during assembly. Loosen the wheel mounting bolts before jacking up the car. Raise the front of the car, place it on stands and remove the front wheel.
2. Disconnect the speed sensor and brake pad wear sensor wires from the shock absorber strut.

3. Unscrew the nut (3) and disconnect the connecting rod (2) from the shock absorber strut (1).
Caution! Do not damage the dust cap, hold the ball pin (4) of the connecting rod from turning with a wrench.

4. Unscrew the 2 bolts (4) securing the shock absorber strut (1) to the steering arm and remove the bolts.
5. Unscrew the nut (5) and remove the bolt (6).

6 Secure the shock absorber strut from falling after removing the top mount.

7. Unscrew the nut (7) and disconnect the shock absorber strut at the top from the support (6).
Note: When removing the left shock absorber strut, first disconnect the windshield washer reservoir and move the attached hoses to the side.
8. Remove the washer and stop (8) and pull the shock absorber strut down from the wheel arch.
Caution: Be careful not to damage the brake hose.
Installation
1. Carefully insert the shock absorber strut through the wheel arch into the support.
2. Install the stop and washer in place.
3. Tighten the upper nut to 60Nm.
4. Attach the shock absorber strut to the steering knuckle. Insert the upper bolt so that the bolt head, looking in the direction of travel, faces forward.
5. Then tighten first the upper nut (5) to a torque of 200 Nm, holding the bolt from turning, and then the lower bolt (4) to a torque of 110 Nm, refer to Illustration 3.4.
6. Secure the connecting rod to the shock absorber strut with a new self-locking nut and washer to a torque of 40 Nm.
7. Secure the wires of the speed sensor and brake pad wear sensor to the stand.
8. Replace the windshield washer fluid reservoir if it was removed and secure it by turning the locking lever.
9. Install the front wheel so that the marks made during removal match. Pre-lubricate the centering belt of the wheel disk on the hub with a thin layer of bearing grease. Do not lubricate the wheel mounting bolts. Replace rusty bolts. Tighten the bolts. Lower the car onto the wheels and tighten the bolts crosswise to a torque of 110 Nm.
10. If the shock absorber strut was replaced with a new one, measure the geometric parameters of the chassis.
