Note: A new gasket may be required during installation.
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Raise the engine hood to the fully open position as described in chapter 11.
3. If you are dealing with a turbo engine, to provide enough space to remove the camshaft cover, disconnect and remove the turbocharger air duct,
4. Disconnect the ventilation hose from the cover.
5. If necessary, disconnect the throttle/downshift cable from the control lever that crosses the cover at the top. If this requires removing the lever adjusting screw, first mark the alignment marks on both disconnected parts of the lever.
6. Unscrew the camshaft cover mounting bolts and remove the washers if necessary.

7. Lift the camshaft cover. If the cover is difficult to remove, lift it by rocking it with your hands and, if necessary, tapping it with a hammer with a protected striker - do this carefully, as the cover is easily damaged.
8. Remove the gasket.
Installation
9. Check the condition of the gasket and replace it if necessary.
10. Place the gasket into the camshaft cover recess, starting from the front to the back.
11. Place the cover on the cylinder head, making sure the gasket is seated correctly, then install the bolts.
12. Tighten the bolts gradually to the torque values specified in section "Technical data".
13. Connect the ventilation hose.
14. If equipped, install the turbocharger duct.
15. Connect the negative battery terminal and lower the hood.
