Contents: Removal ↡ Installation ↡

Removal

1. Raise the hood to the vertical position by pressing the latch on the left hinge, releasing the strut retainer, and pushing the hood upward.

2. Remove the retainer and remove the thrust strut from the lower support stud (see fig. 6.2).

3. Disconnect the windshield washer hose from the shut-off valve on the right side and release the hose clamps on the hood hinge.

4. Pull the jet heater wire out of the recess in the hood next to the jets and disconnect the wire plug from the connectors.

5. Tie a piece of rope to the main cable and pull the cable out of the recess in the hood on the hinge side. When the end of the rope appears, untie it and remove the wire. When installing, tie the cable to the rope and pull it back.

6. Remove the hinge mounting plates by releasing the upper pivot part of the retainer from the hinge pin, then lift the plates upwards (see fig. 6.6).

7. Mark the position of the lower mounting bolts on both sides so that the hood can be reinstalled.

8. Have an assistant support the hood while you loosen the lower mount nut on each side, remove the hinge bolts and hinge pins, and carefully lift the hood.

Installation

9. To install the hood, install the hinge pin and hinge bolt bushings into the hinges if they came out during removal.

10. Replace the hood and insert the lower hinge bolt. Turn the bolt until the square section aligns with the rectangular hole in the hinge arm.

11. Insert the top hinge pin and rotate it so that the slit in the head of the hinge pin is horizontal.

12. Install the hinge nut, position the hood according to the previously made marks and tighten the nut. Install the hinge mounting plate, then repeat these steps on the hinge on the other side.

13. Tie the washer jet wire to a string and pull the wire through the hood into place. Reconnect the wire connectors.

14. Connect the washer hoses to the shut-off valve and secure with new clamps to the hood hinge.

15. Position the thrust post on the support pin and secure with the clamp.

16. Lower the hood and check its installation and alignment. If necessary, adjust the position as described in paragraph 7.
