Removal and installation the B1 multi-disc brake and oil pump (Mercedes-Benz S-Class W220)

Removal



1. Remove multi-plate clutches K1, K2 and K3.

2. Unscrew bolts 7a and remove oil pump 7. Unscrew two opposite bolts in the oil pump housing and remove the oil pump from the torque converter housing by lightly tapping with a plastic hammer.

3. Loosen the bolts ba and remove the multi-disc brake B1 6 from the torque converter housing. Loosen the two opposite bolts in the multi-disc brake B1 and remove it from the torque converter housing by lightly tapping with a plastic hammer.

4. Disconnect the intermediate plate 8 from the torque converter housing 1.

Installation



1. Install the intermediate plate 8 onto the torque converter housing 1. The intermediate plate 8 can be used several times.

2. Tighten the mounting bolts of the multi-disc brake B1 6 in the torque converter housing 1. The installation position of the multi-disc brake B1 relative to the torque converter housing is determined by the guide pin on the multi-disc brake B1 (arrow).



3. Install oil pump 7 and tighten its mounting bolts.

4. Install multi-plate clutches K1, K2 and K3. The illustration shows oil channel E for clutch K1.
