Inspection, testing and adjustment of the fuel injection system (Mercedes-Benz S-Class W126)

0
Caution: When working on the fuel injection system, it is necessary to maintain impeccable cleanliness. Before removing, the relevant parts must be cleaned with gasoline. The system is under high pressure. Therefore, before replacing parts, it is necessary to relieve the pressure by slowly releasing the fuel pipe on the cold start injector. In doing so, it is necessary to place a rag at the connection point. Danger of fuel escaping under pressure! Escaping fuel must be wiped off immediately with a rag.

Rules for maintaining cleanliness when working with a fuel injection device

Thoroughly clean the connection points and their surroundings.

Place removed parts on a clean lining and cover. Use film or paper. Do not use lint-free rags!
Open elements must be carefully covered or sealed if repairs are not to be made immediately.

Install only clean parts. Remove spare parts from packaging immediately before installation.

If the system is open, do not work with the compressed air system or move the vehicle.

Do not start the engine if the battery is not secured.

If the battery is discharged, do not start the engine using a quick charger.

Never disconnect the battery while the engine is running.

When charging the battery using a quick charger, disconnect the battery from the vehicle's electrical system.

Before checking the injection system, make sure that the ignition system is working properly, i.e. the ignition and spark plugs correspond to the specified parameters.

At temperatures above 80'C (drying after painting) remove the electronic control unit.

Ensure that all connectors are securely connected.

Do not disconnect or connect the electronic control unit connector when the ignition is on.

When checking compression, disconnect the power supply to the fuel pump relay in the K-Jetronic system and remove the main injection system relay in the L-Jetronic system.
