Pic. 1.10. Four-cylinder common rail direct injection diesel engine
CDI (Common Rail Direct Injection) is a global contribution to diesel technology. The CDI principle can significantly reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. A diesel engine based on this principle also provides improved driving comfort due to noise reduction compared to modern prechamber engines. Therefore, Mercedes-Benz diesel engines (pic. 1.10) with direct fuel injection, operating on the Common Rail principle, are significantly superior to previous models.
Like all Mercedes E-class diesels, 4-cylinder diesel engines are equipped with a catalytic analyzer and an exhaust system.
