1. Remove the ground cable from the battery.

2. Apply the handbrake, then raise the front of the car and secure it on stands.

3. Working underneath the vehicle, remove the retaining bracket and disconnect the link from the bottom of the selector lever (see Fig. Removing the bracket securing the rod to the selector lever).

4. Remove the trim from the top of the center console. On later models, you may need to remove the entire center console.

5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the gear indicator light or remove the light bulb from the selector lever housing. Disconnect the electrical connector from the drive mode switch. Unscrew the mounting screws and remove the selector lever by lowering it under the vehicle (see Fig. Location of selector lever mounting screws). Remove the gasket.



Installation



1. Check the condition of the gasket and replace it if necessary.

2. Install the gasket onto the selector lever assembly, then insert the mounting screws to prevent the gasket from moving during installation.

3. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
