Removal the metal protective cap of the Lambda sensor

1. The lambda sensor is screwed into the exhaust pipe and can be accessed from underneath the vehicle.
2. Raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on stands or place the vehicle over an inspection pit.
3. Continue working only after the engine and exhaust system have completely cooled down.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector located on the Lambda sensor wires. To disconnect the connector, turn it a quarter turn counterclockwise and pull it out of the socket.
Caution! On later models, the Lambda Sensor electrical connector is located in the passenger compartment under the driver's foot mat. Disconnect the electrical connector and pull it out through the sealing ring in the underbody.

5. Remove the metal protective cap, then unscrew the Lambda sensor from the exhaust pipe (see picture).
Installation
1. Apply a thin layer of non-stick compound to the threads of the Lambda sensor, being careful not to get any non-stick material on the tip of the sensor.
2. Screw the Lambda sensor into the exhaust pipe and tighten it to the required torque, then connect the sensor electrical connector.
