1. Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the air filter and, depending on the configuration, move the air conditioning compressor away without disconnecting the pipes.
3. Remove the retaining spring and disconnect the multi-pin connector from the generator.
4. Loosen the alternator mounting nuts and bolts and drive belt tension adjuster, then move the alternator toward the cylinder block.
5. Remove the drive belt from the generator pulley.
6. Loosen the pivot bolt nut and remove the generator ground jumper.
7. Remove the mounting and adjustment bolts together with the washers, and then remove the generator itself.
8. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. The drive belt tension is adjusted by turning the adjusting bolt. Check the tightening of the generator bracket mounting bolts.
